Susan Parmenter

Susan Parmenter is an American artist who was born in Massachusetts, America. She was raised in an old apple farm, which was surrounded by forests and farmland, streams, ponds and an abundance of wildlife, due to she discovered her love for nature. She also realised that due to her living in an untouched natural place that wildlife and the environment were not having a negative effect on the animals that lived in it. As she grew older the apple farm got sold and developed which changed the place and the area surrounding it forever. Susan Parmenter is an illustrator and studied at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, however, did not qualify due to not feeling fulfilled. due to her website Parmenter states 'after witnessing years of habitat loss, species extinctions, declines in bird and wildlife populations worldwide, plus the rapid effects of climate change, I now see my work partly as a vehicle- to encourage activism, protection, involvement and awareness. I hope to help preserve remaining wildlife and habitats, protect water and somehow leave the world a better place'. I really like Parmenter's work as it's from being encountered first hand, she has visually witnessed these things happen to the animals that have become extinct.
